I am seeking graduate students to join my research group. Check the opportunities page for more information.
I am an Assistant Professor at the Department of Electrical, Computer and Biomedical Engineering, Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU), formerly Ryerson University.
I work in areas related to control and automation, focusing on achieving autonomy under uncertainty. Current interests include adaptive control, control & optimization, learning-based control, and applications to robotics & autonomous systems.
I completed my PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Waterloo under the supervision of Prof. Daniel Miller. Previously, I have held postdoctoral appointments in KAUST working with Prof. Eric Feron, and worked as a R&D engineer with Baker Hughes. I received both my BSc and MSc degrees from KFUPM.
My academic ‘family’ tree says that ibn Sina and Isaac Newton may be among my academic ancestors! (based on data from the Mathematics Genealogy Project)
